In-Situ Visualization Supercritical Foaming System

Model: SFF-IV

The proposed SFF-IV is an optical research platform for observing polymer foaming inside a heated high-pressure cell. It combines CO₂ delivery, a metal cell with small sapphire viewports, microscope-compatible imaging and a separate analysis display. Its purpose is to relate visible nucleation and growth events to measured pressure and temperature histories. The compact optical chamber is intended for small specimens rather than bulk foam production.

6 FEATURES

Pressure-Rated Optical Cell

The sapphire windows are part of a separately engineered pressure assembly; the large clear cabinet door is only an access guard.

Synchronized Recording

A shared trigger and timestamps align camera frames with transient pressure measurements.

Adjustable Imaging Geometry

An alignment rail and long-working-distance optics allow field-of-view changes without placing the camera in the hot zone.

Separate Process and Analysis Displays

The HMI controls the instrument; the right-hand computer display provides image review and analysis.

Configurable Acquisition Modes

Full-frame recording and optional cropped high-speed recording serve different temporal and spatial requirements.

Calibration-Aware Measurements

Cell metrics require a calibrated optical scale and an agreed segmentation method; raw images remain available for review.
