Supercritical Fluid Particle Coating and Microencapsulation System

Model: SFP-MC

The proposed SFP-MC is a stirred-vessel development system for depositing coating materials onto particles and preparing encapsulated formulations using CO₂-assisted processes. It combines controlled fluid addition, mixing, temperature management and product recovery. The base concept uses batch or semi-batch antisolvent-assisted deposition; a CO₂-soluble coating route is an alternative only for compatible materials. It is intended for formulation development, not a universal core-shell particle generator.

FLOSN / PRODUCT FEATURES

Product Features

6 FEATURES

Core particles and a coating formulation are brought into a controlled pressure environment. Changes in solvent quality or fluid composition cause the coating material to deposit or precipitate while mixing limits settling and helps distribute material. Competing homogeneous nucleation, agglomeration and attrition can produce free particles or matrix composites instead of continuous shells. Surface coverage, loading and release behavior therefore require microscopy and chemical analysis of each formulation.

Magnetically Coupled Mixing

A pressure-compatible drive supports suspension and deposition studies without an exposed rotating shaft seal at the main vessel wall.

ndependent Formulation Addition

Separate liquid and CO₂ delivery allow feed-composition and addition-rate studies.

Modular Product Retention

Removable supported filters and collection parts allow product-recovery and cleaning methods to be developed.

Controlled Thermal History

Vessel heating and cooling are proposed to limit uncontrolled thermal exposure of the formulation.

Formulation Traceability

Feed settings, temperature, pressure and stirrer speed are recorded with the batch identifier.

Evidence-Based Coating Assessment

Core-shell morphology and encapsulation efficiency are sample-specific results; no fixed efficiency is assumed.
